An Inside View

To give you an idea of the everyday adventure of being a film worker with Project Jesus for Children, the following is an account of what an average day would look like.

«Today I am off in time to arrive at the school for the first presentation at 7:30am. I arrange with the religion teacher or the principal the times and places of the showings for the first couple of days so as to cover every student in the school most efficiently. The movie is shown during each class room session, so this gives me one hour and twenty minutes.

I allot the time this way: Set up the projector and support equipment cover the windows with black plastic introduce the film, the «Story of Jesus for Children» to the kids ask key questions to keep them focused show the film either in it's entirety to the older ones or parts of it to the younger ones discuss what they have just viewed present the gospel message pray in chorus for the kids to receive Jesus into their hearts give each child a gospel booklet as they leave for recess. Contact with one religion teacher or principal usually leads to contact with others as God grants favour, and so the project moves ahead. Also arrangements can be made through the regional education offices.»

New guide and student work book!

New Guide Book and Student Work Book

Praise the Lord that the new teacher's guide is printed and ready for distribution! We give God thanks for His grace to see this through to completion and we say "thanks" to all you who upheld the team in prayer through this demanding process.

The manual is made up of 48 lessons each divided into 2 parts which would give the teacher 2 lessons per month for the 6 years of primary school. The lessons focus on spiritual values as taught by Jesus and exemplified by His life. Also the lessons each use a segment of the Story of Jesus for Children film as a companion to the theme thus using many portions of the gospel of Luke. At the same time lots of other scripture passages are implemented in each lesson. The first part of each lesson has an activity and the second part has a craft. To facilitate this for the students, we have produced a student work book for each grade that contains these items thus making a teacher/ student set.

This material is designed for use in school systems. It is non religious in nature in the sense that it rigidly focuses on Jesus and His reality made personal in each life and is not meant for proselytization. .

ABOUT US

History

Project Jesus for Children was born in Costa Rica in 2001 as God placed in the the hearts of the Davidson Family and the local Campus Crusade staff the vision for reaching Latin America's most valuable resource, her children, with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Two months after «The Story of Jesus for Children» film came out in Spanish, it was played on national television in Costa Rica on the most widely viwed channel during Easter week.

Scrolled several times across the bottom of the sreen were the words: "If you want this film shown in your school, please call the following number."

And people in the local Campus Crusade office were receiving calls for two hours straight. With that kind of a send off, all that was needed was the recommendation of the national education authorities.

God granted us favour with the Archbishop of Costa Rica, and also with the Ministry of Education and they gave the project letters of recommendation.

Within a couple of years the ministry had expanded to include Nicaragua, and only a year later, Panama as well. We continue to seek God's favour with the educational authorities as the work moves forward.
